Have you ever met someone who made a good first impression? After meeting them you begin to think, “I like that person.” But then, you get to know them and you discover they are not an honest person. As you get to know them, you are getting to know their heart. Not our heart the physical organ but our spiritual heart.
A person’s heart is who they are. It reveals their true character. Many people have corrupt hearts…or dishonest hearts…although they may make a good first impression, in their heart, they are dishonest.
Proverbs 27:19 says “As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.”
Think about that…”the heart reflects the real person.”
So, what condition is your heart in? Some people have evil hearts…these are the cruel dictators of history….the people who kill and destroy.
Some have dishonest hearts. They will do whatever they have to do to get ahead…they will lie, steal, cheat…whatever they have to do to get ahead. Doesn’t matter if they hurt someone…their wicked is dishonest.
The Bible says that the heart is “…deceitful above all things And desperately wicked; Who can know it” ( Jeremiah 27:19).
This is why our heart must be converted…it must be changed.
So, if our heart reveals who we are…what does our heart say about us? Our heart reflects our character.
As we look at our heart maybe we are bothered about what we see. Maybe we feel bad and want to change. The only way their can be a change of heart is by asking the Lord to change our heart and the Lord will do it. Years ago the Judd’s had a hit song, “Change of Heart.” We all need a change of heart.
Jesus said that we should “love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and mind.” Today, allow the Holy Spirit to inspect your heart and change your heart.
