A Kinder And Gentler Nation

George H.W Bush once said his vision for America was for us to be a “kinder and gentler nation.” We could use more kindness and gentleness today. There is way too much finger-pointing, yelling and judging going on.
Mercy is forgiveness.
Kindness is helping others.
Both are needed more in today’s world.
In Psalm 116, the Psalmist says, “How kind the Lord is! How good he is! So merciful, this God of ours!”
God is filled with kindness and mercy.
God’s mercy was seen in the garden of Eden when God covered Adam and Eve when they were naked.
God’s mercy was seen as He provided for the Israelites throughout their wilderness wanderings.
Of course, the greatest example of God’s mercy is when He sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. God could have left man in his sin and let man face his punishment. But God’s mercy led Him to send His Son to die for our sins.
Mercy means forgiving others… not judging others… loving others.
We need to display more mercy. As the children of God, we need to stop judging others and love more. None of us are perfect.
Just because someone disagrees with you does not make them an evil person. This nation is a land of diversity. But, we are all Americans… We are all God’s children.
Today, let’s be filled with kindness and gentleness.
