This past week, I have substitute taught in a World Geography class. The students were developing powerpoint presentations on world religions. Some were studying Buddhism while others were researching Hinduism and others were researching Christianity.
In I Timothy 3, the apostle Paul gives us a great summary of the Christian faith. Paul says, “Christ was revealed in a human body and vindicated by the Spirit. He was seen by angels and announced to the nations. He was believed in throughout the world and taken to heaven in glory.”
Think about that verse;
“Christ was revealed in a human body…”. This verse deals with the incarnation of Christ. Jesus Christ came to earth in the flesh; He was born of a virgin…He is God in the flesh. In about two months we will celebrate the birth of Jesus…God in the flesh.
“Jesus was vindicated by the Spirit…”. When Jesus was baptized, God spoke from heaven, “this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Jesus was vindicated.
Jesus Christ is the Savior if the world. He is the greatest person that ever lived. He was tempted just like we are but never sinned.
Jesus fed the multitudes. He healed the sick. He taught people how to live a new kind of life; a life marked by love. He raised Lazarus from the dead.
Then, Jesus gave His life for our sins. He was crucified on a Roman cross to pay the price for man’s sins. His body was placed in the borrowed tomb of Jesus of Arimathea and rose again on the third-day and as Paul said, “He was taken to heaven in glory.”
As one writer put it; “Of all the armies that have ever marched and all the navies that have ever sailed, of all the parliaments that ever sat and of all the King’s that have ever reigned, none have had the impact on mankind as has this one solitary life – the life of Jesus Christ of Nazarus. He deserves our worship.
