“Measure twice, cut once.”
Have you ever heard that phrase? It means to really think through something before you take action. That same idea expressed negatively may be, “Don’t go off half-cocked on something.” In other words, “think it through.”
I don’t know about you but I’ve done some things without thinking it through it and I regretted doing it.
In I Samuel 14:36, Saul is preparing to lead Israel into battle against the Philistines. He goes to the priest to ask for their advice. The priest says, “Lets ask God first.”
This may not have been what Saul wanted to hear but it is definitely what he needed to hear. He is being told to cool his jets and go before the Lord before He does anything. He needs to be sure he’s doing what the Lord wants him to do.
It may be that you are trying to make a decision. Maybe you have given to the . Lord but, you feel like you are getting no reply from the Lord. You are getting anxious and you are ready to go! You wish God would hurry up and tell you that your plan is OK! But He hasn’t and you are frustrated.
Friend, don’t go forward unless the Lord says go. As the priest told Saul, “Let’s ask God first.”
Or, maybe you have been praying for something for some time now. God hasn’t answered or it seems He hasn’t answered. God may be telling you to wait. The last thing any of us need to do is go forward without God’s command.
So today, are you trying to make a decision about something? You have prayed and prayed and you are getting a little impatient. Hold on friend! Don’t do anything unless you ask God first!
