Hope In The Future

“Is there any hope?”
Many people are asking that very question. “Is there any hope?”
Or, they may ask, “When will my trials end? How long is this going to go on?”
We don’t have the answers to questions but, we know there is hope for the future. In Psalms 71, the Psalmist prayed, “You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth.”
That is a strong verse of hope! Think about those words… “you have allowed me to suffer much hardship…” Someone reading this may be going through or has gone through a very difficult time. You may be able to identify with what the Psalmist is saying here..
But then, the Psalmist says, “you will restore me to life again.” The Psalmist knew that although he was hurting… although he was going through much hardship, he knew there was hope ahead.
But, what was that hope? The Psalmist isn’t saying, the Lord is going to restore him on the earth although he could. He is saying, “I know this world isn’t all there is… the Psalmist knew that in the afterlife, God would restore him. There was hope in the future!
The same is true for us. The Bible does not promise to turn our fortunes around and give us riches or prosperity. God does promise that even if things don’t get better here, He will be with us beyond death.
The old song says it best;
“There’s a land that is fairer than day. And by faith we shall see it afar.
And by faith we shall see it afar. For the Father waits over the way.
To prepare us a dwelling place there.
In the sweet by and by. We shall meet on that beautiful shore.
In the sweet by and by. We shall meet on that beautiful shore.”
Are you going through tough times? There IS hope in the future!
