“I was shaken to the core.”
Have you ever heard someone say that? Or, maybe something like that? For that matter, you may have said it. Maybe you are describing something that happened to you and you say, “I was shaken to my core.” It means that something really bothered us. Something really troubled us.
The Psalmist experienced this. He said, “My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation. I will not be GREATLY shaken.” Notice that the Psalmist didn’t say he wasn’t shaken… Something had shaken him…
Maybe it was Saul pursuing him or something else. But something had shaken him. But, he said, “He (God) is my rock and my salvation… I will not be GREATLY shaken.”
We will be shaken. We will go through some tough times. Life is not always smooth sailing but, with God as our rock, like the Psalmist we can say, “I was not GREATLY shaken.”
How do we respond when we are shaken? First, we trust the Lord… we serve a God who loves us and is powerful to help us so we trust Him. Second, we turn to His word. There are many verses in the Bible that remind us that even though we go through times, we will not be GREATLY shaken. Third, a Christian friend or friends may help us.
You may know someone who has been shaken. If so, if you haven’t already, reach out to them. Encourage them… Offer to help them if you can.
In life we will be shaken… no ifs, ands or buts about it… we will be shaken but if God is our rock, we will not be GREATLY shaken.
