Every day we make choices. And our choices are critical.
Mary Crowley once said, “We are free up to the point of choice, then the choice controls the chooser.”
John Wooden said, “There is a choice you make in everything you do. So keep in mind that in the end, the choice you make, makes you.”
Both of those quotes demonstrate how vital our choices are.
In Joshua 24:15, Joshua challenged the people to choose the Lord. He said, “… choose for yourselves today whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the river, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Jesus said there are basically two roads in life; one is the broad way that is filled with the allure of worldly things. The other is the straight and narrow. The straight and narrow is a more difficult road to take but, Jesus said, it leads us to eternal life. The broad way looks appealing… it is tempting but, the end of it leads to destruction.
So today, which choice will you make? Will you choose the broad way or the straight and narrow? The choice is ours.
It has been said, “Our life is the sum total of the decisions we make…” We must make sure we are making the right decisions.
